Insidemaps Capture is feature within the Insidemaps application. It’s main job is to make sure any user can complete the capturing process without any problem. But currently that is not the case, it is somewhat hard to navigate around the whole system.
Redesigning the Asset Capture Feature
Revenue hits a roadblock when there is a genuine dissatisfaction from customers when using certain services in our application. And that is what happened to us. Our customers were not happy using our feature.
Quantitative & Qualitative Research
Quantitative Research — Phase 1
Initial phase was divided into two parts. Part 1 was mostly quantitative analysis where I interviewed a group of 20 people. Questions were carefully crafted to generate relevant data.
Big Data Analysis
Deep dive into usage patterns and large scale user behavior to identify technical bottlenecks in the capture process.
Qualitative Research — Phase 2
In-depth user interviews and direct observation of the capture flow to understand the emotional friction points.
Final Improvements
These are the improvements I made after taking all the research into account.
Reducing Scanning Time
Optimized the AR tracking and image processing pipeline to reduce the time needed for a full room scan.
Improving Picture Quality
Implemented HDR enhancement and better auto-focus algorithms for sharper, more reliable assets.
Updated Reusable Components
Redesigning the components library to fit the improved design and interaction.
The Resulting Transformation
Successfully improved user satisfaction scores and reduced session abandonment rates.
